TOP 4 NEW YORK STATE DESTINATIONS TO CHECK OUT TODAY!

By Jason Jourdan

Home to some of the world’s busiest cities, quaint towns, and spectacular landscapes, New York State has it all. Although often overshadowed by its largest city, the Empire State is a great place to explore for music, art, history, and nature aficionados. In fact, New York State has set record after record in terms of tourism, and it’s only expected to get even more popular in the future. That said, here are four prime destinations to consider when planning your trip:

New York City

No list on New York State’s destinations is complete without the vast metropolis of NYC. Page after page online attempts to itemize the attractions you must visit to get to know the Big Apple, from the world-famous to the obscure. But it might be better to approach this busy city neighborhood by each individual neighborhood, as each has its own distinct charm and quirky activities. Manhattan, for instance, is the most recognizable, home to landmarks like the Empire State Building, Central Park, and Times Square. As such, it’s also one of the busiest and poshest areas in the city, as Yoreevo notes that homes cost an average of $2,000,000. It is densely packed with more things to do than you could possibly dream of accomplishing in one trip. In contrast, Brooklyn is a little more laidback, but no less fascinating, with its hip eateries, shops, and museums. Meanwhile, if you want to experience New York’s unique cultural melting pot, then the exciting borough of Queens is for you.

Rochester

Often ranked as one of the best places to live in America, Rochester is home to a unique mix of history and innovation in everything from its residential and commercial structures, to its local culture and practices. New York State’s third largest city is home to gorgeous parks, fascinating museums, historic sites, and other cultural attractions. These include the Charlotte Genesse Lighthouse, which dates back to 1822, and the International Museum of Photography and Film, located in the former home of the founder of Kodak. You can also stop by the National Museum of Play, the Seneca Park Zoo, and the National Center for the History of Electronic Games.

Buffalo

Buffalo’s recent redevelopment means that travelers can enjoy the beautiful waterfront, rich history, fascinating architecture, and stunning natural beauty. Bask in the serene scenery of Delaware Park, take a tour of the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site, and indulge in culinary delights in one of the city’s many restaurants. Once you’re done with all these, you can also take a side trip to the Niagara Falls just north of Buffalo and on the American border with Canada. Head there during the day for a fun picnic, or wait until the evening, when Travel + Leisure shares that the waterfalls light up in stunning colors.

The Finger Lakes

The ultimate destination for wine-lovers is the Finger Lakes as it’s home to colorful vineyards, vast farmlands, and quaint towns surrounding 11 glacial lakes. Pay a visit to the botanic gardens in Ithaca or marvel at nature in Taughannock Falls State Park. You can also explore the Corning Museum of Glass and Keuka Lake. If wine trails and apple orchards are your thing, then you can head over to the Damiani Wine Cellars, Lakewood Vineyards, and Ravine Wines.

No matter what your New York destination, the Empire State is sure to provide experiences like no other. But in order to get the most out of your travels, don’t forget to make adequate preparations for emergencies here with us on Triptime® Insurance.
