The Rainbow Mountain, or Vinicunca, is located near Cusco in Peru. Although the mountain has been there for centuries, the unique rainbow features were only recently discovered in 2015. According to locals, the entire mountain had been covered in snow and ice up until that point. When it all melted, it revealed the beautiful, multi-colored layers of minerals below. .
